Fake African Queens

"Why be say I marry you beautiful
 Next day you are ugly
 Why be say I marry you beautiful
 Next day you are ugly
 This be total cheat
 You must to see my lawyer
 This be total cheat
 You must to see my lawyer ..."

     Above are lines from Fancy Gaddam's "Total Cheat" hit track which features Sarkodie, whose efforts helped the song win laurels such as the 'Most Popular' and 'Best Collaboration' awards at the just ended 2018 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs). In the song, both artistes described their unhappy experiences after engaging with ladies who first looked really pretty but later lost their enchanting looks.

     Some people wonder why our beautiful black African ladies strive to look extra pretty by their original looks from head to toe, and in some instances, inflict pain on themselves or even damage parts of their bodies. I personally have had an encounter with a lady whose finger nail got cracked as a result of continuous fixing of artificial nails. Per my interactions with her, she informed me that her toe nail had even gone off before. I have also met ladies with scalp injuries as a result of using relaxer creams and removing weave-on or hair extensions that had been bonded to their hair with glue. The least said about those who bleach in the name of toning their skin, the better

     In fact, some women rather look very scary after they have done their so-called makeup. Some wear weird hairdos, whilst others have their eyebrows shaved off and drawn with pencils. Some apply weird colours of face powder on their faces that even stain clothes. And the length of other's artificial or acrylic nails fixed, can be compared to that of a wicked witch. Our African queens have gone as far as undergoing surgeries to get bigger boobs and butt, cute lips, slimmer bodies, and so on; thinking less of the implications in terms of finances, time and health. So I ask;

Why can't our black African women love and be themselves?

What can we learn from Meghan Markle's makeup for her wedding (the Royal Wedding)?

Are the African kings asking for all these?

  1. to be honest, some men do not like natural ladies! secondly, some women feel insecure so they need to hide them
